Itinerary description
Ararat Ağri Daği Turkye start point Çevirme ~ 2200asl
Day 1 - hike to Camp 1 (3200asl)
Day 2 - hike from Camp 1 to Camp 2 on ~ 4200asl and than ascent Ağri Daği also known as Ararat.
Without aclimatisation from Camp 2 to Camp 1.
Full winter equipment is needed only for last part of the route. We did not use crampons as there was no need, ice was soft so we ascent and descent without them but we had them with us.
There is huge temperature difference between Camp 2 and last part of ascent above 5000 asl.
Ascent to Camp 1 is easy hike with elevetaion gain of 1200+
The worst part was altitude sickness and descent on very slippery terrain, very bad for knees.
Rest of the trail is not so bad, walking on entire route is very slow due to altitude and keeping the breath as calm as possible.
Ararat is not an easy hike regardless what everyone says. Maybe it is easiest 5000er to climb, but not an easy hike for sure.
Take medicines and lot of liquids, train at least 3 months before the trip so your body is ready but you can never be sure how altitude will affect you.
I was lucky I only had a headache and small breath problems that I controled with analgetics and full focus on breathing.
If you have any questions message me and I'll try to assist as much as I can.
