Itinerary description
The American Canyon Trail area is a gorgeous densely wooded canyon with a beautiful cascading waterfall, two creeks, Hoboken (aka Hobokin Creek) and American Canyon (aka Canyon Creek), and several seasonal water drainages. Oh, and there’s an old upside-down truck stuck amongst some trees (try as I might, I could find nothing of it’s history).
I rate this trail recording as moderate to difficult. Both Maine Bar Trail and Dead Truck Trail are extremely steep and there are trail signs that warn of that fact as you near them. Also, Maine Bar Trail is extremely rocky and has grades ranging from 25-49%.

Waypoints
The cascading waterfall runs for awhile along the Waterfall Trail.

If you do this trail in reverse you will avoid the afternoon sun that part of the trail that can get extremely warm on the way out, very little shade. You will be coming out in the shade rather than the sun..
