Amber Island.
About an hour boat ride (not speedboat mode) from Thinadhoo is the uninhabited island of Ambara, with a beautiful coral reef, shallow water, a great variety of marine life.
A pier welcomes the many visitors brought by the resorts, who go to bathe in a lagoon with transparent waters on a bed of white sand. And during this time, the guides unpack tents, umbrellas, tables, barbecues, etc. nearby near the pier for the comfort of its customers. This means that there can be gatherings at mealtimes in the area, which turns into a catering center competing with luxury ...
It could be beautiful, but taking a (quick) tour of the island only the damage is noticed: old abandoned dilapidated buildings, waste of all kinds dirtying the landscape, not to mention the flowers and vines collected by the organizers for the decoration of their curtains and their tables.
When you are at the bottom of the sea, apart from a few coral gems, you have to go far enough to find some life on the edge of shallow wells.
In conclusion, good for photos and sunbathing (we stay there on average from 4 to 5 hours), less fun for the visit and the landscape of the island.
