Itinerary description
Winter edition.
This trail is a popular part of way longer Amatas River Nature Trail. The trail starts at the parking lot near the bridge of the Amata river, is fairly trafficked and very famous among the locals. The route goes along the Amata river and is easy-moderate. There are some very beautiful sand cliff exposures. The first half of the trail ends at the open field where you can take a picnic. Then other half of the trail crosses the Amata river and goes fairly long uphill till you are on the top of Zvārtes Iezis (Zvārtes Rock). There you will have a spectacular view. The trail takes a small loop and goes back to the beginning.
