The route starts from a large parking lot on a secondary road that is accessed in a half hour by car from the city of Alta. The route is simple to follow and is marked with red marks and runs through the tundra area. If it has rained, the ground will be quite waterlogged so a waterproof footwear is highly recommended. You have to cross three streams (one bigger) and there are no bridges, so you have to look for the best way through the stones. The outward journey pikes downwards and ends in a viewpoint located on the top of the cliff of the Alta river canyon that is about 300 m below (impossible to descend to the river by verticality). From here the views of the river and the canyon are magnificent. On the way it is easy to spot reindeer and lagomorphs (birds). The way out is about 6.7 km, 250 m height and 1.45h. The return is exactly the same way. Enjoy it.
