Alpe Veglia - Lago Bianco

After leaving the car at Ponte Campo, you reach the Alpe Veglia plateau via an ascending carriage road. As soon as you get to the Groppallo chapel, the track becomes flat. Behind the Città di Arona refuge you can find the beginning of the trail leading up to Lago Bianco (White Lake), where a marvelous sight of the surrounding peaks and passes can be enjoyed. Thereafter you head North until the Pian d'Erbioi, where you must turn right. In any case, a signal is there to help you out: it is impossible to miss. After a brief but suggestive descent, you arrive at the Pian du Scricc: in my modest opinion, this very place offers the most intense panorama of the whole excursion. Traverse it and go down towards Alpe Veglia, more specifically the Città di Arona refuge, where you started the climb. Then, turn left and head towards Ponte Campo and your vehicle, but do not forget to admire the beautiful waterfall just southeast from the refuge.
The trip is not particularly demanding and the path always visible and signaled. Go for it!

Dopo aver lasciato l’auto a Ponte Campo, raggiungete la piana del Veglia tramite una gippabile in salita, che però diventa pianeggiante alla Cappella del Groppallo. Alle spalle del Rifugio Città di Arona si incontra l’inizio del sentiero che conduce al Lago Bianco, da dove si può godere di una vista spettacolare dei monti e dei passi attorno a voi. Successivamente procedete in direzione nord sino al Pian d’Erbioi, dove occorre svoltare a destra. Un cartello, impossibile da mancare, vi indicherà la direzione. Dopo una discesa suggestiva, seppur breve, si giunge al Pian du Scricc da cui, a mio parere, si possono osservare i paesaggi migliori dell’intera camminata. Attraversatelo e scendete verso l’Alpe Veglia, più precisamente il Rifugio Città di Arona, dove, svoltando a sinistra, vi aspetta la discesa verso il parcheggio di Ponte Campo, ma non dimenticate di fermarvi alla cascata immediatamente a sudest del rifugio stesso.
L’escursione in sé non è particolarmente impegnativa ed i sentieri risultano sempre visibili ed adeguatamente indicati: cosa state aspettando?
