Itinerary description

Rosewall Creek Provincial Park has a single wilderness trail along picturesque Rosewall Creek from a parking lot and picnic area to a remote waterfall. The trail is challenging with slippery roots, sections of narrow trail along the ridge of a high bank (aka cliff), and many dead-fall obstacles (tree trunks) to step over or dive under. Be prepared to limbo, climb, and hold on to trail-side roots to make it safely to the falls. While a mostly flat trail with little elevation gain and not a great distance, the occasional slippery footing, trail obstacles, and drop-offs down into the river caused me to list this trail as "Difficult."

The scenery is otherworldly, an Avatar experience of a seemingly primordial forest full of ferns and moss-covered trees. Don't breath too deeply, or you may pass out from hypoxia (too much oxygen). I'm kidding, but it is a truly green valley with a wonderful babbling brook along the whole trail. Several deep pools along the path and at the end may beckon you in for a dip, if you like cold water.

We walked this very slowly and carefully, and stopped for a half-hour lunch at the waterfall.
