Itinerary description
Very short but nice trail in Alona village. From the trail name it’s obvious that it goes through hazelnut orchards which are full of other berries and fruits as well (plums, cherries, almonds, etc.).
The trail has become somewhat obsolete judging by earlier pictures, for example the steps at the start are broken and there is no possibility to walk around traditional water pool because of overgrown grass, bushes, etc., however all the signs are new.
That was our 2nd hazelnut hike (1st hike - https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/fyntoukodasos-hazelnut-trees-trail-livadia-84763305 ) and there is a possibility to combine the two as they are not too far apart. Between the two trails on the main road there is Pantheon restaurant - very pleasant place to have a pit stop and a bite.
TERRAIN: narrow forest path with medium size stones, initially descent and then ascent. The last bit is along asphalt road in the village.
SEASON: the trail is perfectly shady with a few short open parts.
SIGNS: plenty of various signs and quite a few resting places for such a short trail.
KIDS: perfect and good fun for kids of all ages, just choose the right ripening season.
