Itinerary description
An easy loop hike to the remote beaches of Maden Island from the final stop of the minibus from Ayvalık. The "moderate" difficulty is due to fording to and from Maden Island. At the time of the research, the fording was easy. The depth depends on the tides; for me, it was mostly below knee-level and chest-deep at the deepest point. The seabed is rocky, so it's better not to cross barefoot. I recommend bringing spare pants and shoes specifically for fording. On Maden Island, tracks go through prickly bushes; it's better to wear jeans instead of shorts.
