At the port of Vlora we took a boat that took us towards the Karaburun peninsula - a military area during the "glorious regime" as our local guide ironically calls it - where he first showed us the large sea cave of Hazhi Alia and then let us disembark in an obviously disused military landing place at Capo di Lingua protected by a double line of reinforced concrete bunkers. From there we went up to take the old military connecting road, also visiting a cave emplacement for large-caliber artillery to defend against attacks from the sea.
We walked for about ten km halfway up the coast, passing over a series of bays with pebble beaches and crystal clear water. It's a shame for the carelessness that leads locals to sow plastic bottles and other containers everywhere...
The trek ended in Shen Vasil bay served by a pier for tourist boats and some restaurants on the beach where our boat was waiting for us which, after a couple of hours of relaxation, took us back to Vlora.
