Según mendikat.net, en Álava existen casi 250 montes de mil metros o más. Éste es el Entrerríos, de 1094 metros

Cumbre de los montes de Iturrieta situada entre el Santa Elena (1111 m) y la balsa de Onraita situada a un kilómetro al Oeste del pueblo

Mi ascensión

Entretenida ruta que comienza en el pueblo de Gereñu, donde se puede dejar el coche en la plaza de la fuente que hay junto a la carretera que atraviesa la población

Tras unos primeros 1000 metros de aproximación, pronto se llega a un bosque de haya y roble que vamos a tener que ascender hasta Puerto Blanco, a unos 1000 metros de altitud. La subida es sencilla, sin excesiva pendiente y por sendas y pistas fáciles de seguir. Tras Puerto Blanco alcanzamos el monte Marabileta (1088 m), con su horrible antena

Se inicia entonces un tranquilo descenso por la pista de tierra y grava que sirve de acceso a los técnicos de mantenimiento de la antena. Esa pista la acabamos dejando tras 850 metros, para desviarnos a la izquierda hasta una pequeña presa

Desde la presa volvemos a ascender, esta vez hasta la cima del Entrerríos. Esta subida la efectuamos por una campa descubierta en la que encontraremos unas rodadas de coche que nos llevan hasta una puerta metálica que antecede a la cumbre

La cima no tiene más que un montón de piedras y ninguna panorámica porque está rodeada de un bosque. Una piedra tiene escrito a mano el nombre de Garasabel, que es otra denominación de esta cumbre. La cima cuenta con un gran árbol seco que parece ser bastante famoso





El descenso hasta Gereñu se realiza pasando por el puerto de Luzkando, donde se halla el cultivo de cereal más elevado de Álava, a algo más de 1000 metros de altitud. Para llegar a este puerto todavía tenemos que acercarnos un poco al monte Santa Elena, sin subirlo, por dentro de una zona de hayedo con algunos especímenes realmente notables. Este hayedo no tiene pista muy visible pero es fácil caminar por él

Pasado el puerto de Luzkando, nos volvemos a sumergir en el bosque de haya y roble, hasta llegar finalmente a Gereñu. Este último tramo puede tener alguna zona en la que la senda no sea muy visible y, además, puede ser resbaladizo debido a la gran cantidad de hojas depositadas en el suelo

My ascent

Entertaining route that begins in the village of Gereñu, where you can leave the car in the square of the fountain next to the road that crosses the village

After the first 1000 meters of approach, we soon reach a beech and oak forest that we will have to climb up to White pass, about 1000 meters above sea level. The climb is straightforward, without excessive slope and on trails and tracks that are easy to follow. After White pass we reach the Marabileta mountain (1088 m), with its horrible antenna

Then begins a quiet descent along the dirt and gravel track that serves as access to the antenna maintenance technicians. We leave this track after 850 meters, to turn left to a small dam

From the dam we ascend again, this time to the top of Entrerríos. This ascent is made by an open field where we will find some car tracks that lead us to a metal gate that precedes the summit

The summit has no more than a pile of stones and no panoramic view because it is surrounded by a forest. A stone has handwritten the name Garasabel, which is another name for this summit. The summit has a large dry tree that seems to be quite famous





The descent to Gereñu is through the Luzkando pass, where the highest cereal crop in Alava is located, at just over 1000 meters above sea level. To reach this pass we still have to get a little closer to the Santa Elena mountain, without climbing it, through an area of beech forest with some really remarkable specimens. This beech forest does not have a very visible trail but it is easy to walk through it

After the Luzkando pass, we return to the beech and oak forest, until we finally reach Gereñu. This last stretch may have some areas where the path is not very visible and, in addition, it can be slippery due to the large amount of leaves on the ground
