This route is the last of a set that combines hiking in the country with a 18-day trip and cruise through the Alaska fjords, as well as hikes at one of the points that visit the cruise.
We made this route on the stairs that the ship made to JUNEAU and allows us to go to a jelly that is located almost at sea level as it thaws on the lake of the same name, MENDENHALL .
The journey from the boat to the shore of the lake is done by taxi and once we leave, we begin to walk and have a first flat kilometer. Just under two kilometers after several paths we reach a point that the path turns to the left but we continue straight ahead.
Due to the reversal of the ice creams, several brands are at the point where the glacier is found, it is going away and the road has to overcome some obstacles of stones and trees but that the same stones and trees help us to overcome. There is even a point with a string but it is more easily overcome.
The slope drop is only 100 meters and a little more than a kilometer long, but we have to spend a lot of time for what we have said. Arrived at the glacier we did not lower it completely and we would love to do a little over the hill that gives us a better view.
For the return we always do it along the same path as the one to the point where we stayed with the taxi driver that we would pick.
