Itinerary description
Trail starts behind small parking lot at Al Rabi Tower. Spaces were available on the weekday afternoon I went, otherwise you’ll need to park at the long term parking below the tower - thus will add around 50-60m to your hike.
This is one of UAE’s most popular hikes for beginners because it’s doable by the entire family. Don’t underestimate the effort though, as the first 2 kms is steep uphill so carry good shoes, plenty of water and take more breaks if required. It took me 1.5 hrs to get to the summit with 3-4 breaks, so even if you aren’t in the greatest shape you should comfortably make it to the top in around 2 hours.
The trail is clearly marked and fairly wide in most places so it’s quite safe, as long as you take usual precautions. The view doesn’t change much throughout, with Khorfakkan port, the beach and the city visible almost all the way. However it keeps improving as you travel further up, with the summit offering 360 views back towards the surrounding mountains and the Gulf of Oman.
Suggest to go either early morning or late afternoon on a weekday to avoid rush.
