Itinerary description
Another loop in Akoura highlands which start from Church of Saydit El Qarn. Plenty of places to park the car.
The hike started on asphalt road, continue for nearly 700m then go uphill and once on there follow the dirt road to the right.
This trail in general consists of many ups and downs, in most of the time it will be easy to follow up till the big cross over Akoura village. Spring high grass forming at this time of the year made the walk challenging and risky, we have encountered snakes of different sizes so be aware of your foot steps and have a long pants and boots for more protection.
Upon arriving to the cross, great reward waiting you. The view over Akoura village is magnificent and breathtaking. We took one hour break there and felt like a 5 minutes.
The next part is even more challenging and beautiful. Walking on the edge of a mountain, great landscapes all around, what can be more satisfying ?
There is no trail up there, hard and rocky terrain everywhere. Follow direction and choose carefully the right path.
On the way, you will meet the amazing rock that looks like a howling wolf. It is fascinating how nature can surprise you in its beauty.
Not an easy ascent that will lead you after to a steep descent. Again choose the best route and don't stick to your GPS.
Enjoy the view over Akoura artificial lakes, you will be lucky to meet the sunset over there.
Continuing forward, a technical descent will lead you back to the dirt road again and finally to the start point.
In general it is an advanced hike by difficulty, I give this rate always on these kind of terrains not to underestimate as it can be difficult for amateur. For an experienced hiker this is a moderate level.
HIGHLY recommended for mountain lovers.
Hike Poles and long pants are mandatory.
Do your duty to keep nature a beauty and always be kind to everything that lives :)

This place has a lot of rocks with beautiful shapes. We turn around it as we thought it can be risky to cross in.

My first hike in Lebanon. Instead of 13,5km we taken a shortcut and walked 13km. So in fact it was not a shortcut especially that we had few uphill and downhill so we were extremely tired....but happy.
Agree with you Marcin.
One of the best hikes here and very rewarding
