Overview:
This loop connects 2 major Trails in Ajijic. The Sky Race up to the ridge above Ajijic and the 3 Crosses trail back down back to the Tepalo Water Fall, a major attraction in the Area. Excellent Trails 6.2 Km (3.85 MI),long , elevation from 1676 M,(5500 FT)to 2286M(7500 FT).
Details:
The Hike Starts at the “TEPALO TRLHD” up to the “TEPALO WF” where you pick up the Sky Race trail to the top of the ridge at “SKYRCE TRL”. Then head west along the ridge to the “3X TRL”, down the 3 crosses trail to the “SADDLE”. Head East back to the “TEPALO WF” down the trail to the “TEPALO TRLHD”. Note: When you are on top of the Ridge at “3X TRL” you can continue west to view the, Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine at the “GROTTO”. Track can be done in reverse, it’s easier going down the 3 Crosses Trail.

Easy to follow
Scenery
Difficult
Did this trail 13/01/18 exactly as mapped. Most difficulty w/ steep elevation gain via numerous switchbacks between top of waterfall and n-s ridge. Once there the humps to 3X's are easier w/ great views n & s. Descent via the mirador and saddle is steep & rocky but allows for quick time. This trail rewards w/ views of Colima mountain & volcano.
