Itinerary description
Overview:
Mt Garcia is located on the SW end of Lake Chapala, 9034 ft. (2755 M) to the Summit. The track from Trailhead and back is 6.6 mi (10.6km) approximately 6 hrs. including Lunch at the top. Along a good trail, with excellent views of the Lake Chapala area. The length and elevation make it a difficult hike , but the views at the top are worth the trek....
Trailhead:
The trail starts on a Farm above San Luis Soyatlan. I have shown the track starting from the town as it is difficult to find the turn off from the main road; GPS TRACK Directions: turn S at the “Garcia TRN S” Waypoint, follow track to the Farm, Ask permission, and park you Cars see “GRCN FARM TRLHD”. LANDMARKS to TRAILHEAD: Driving from the west into the center of San Luis Soyatlan, look for a building, on a SE corner, that has a green lower part and a door at the corner of the building that is at 45 degrees to each wall. There are no street signs. Turn S up this road, turn W at the second Intersection, rd. jogs Right then left, at next intersection Turn S. This road leads to the farm. NOTE: the Farmers lock up the Farm when they leave, last hike it was at 4:00pm.
