Itinerary description
Ain Rub is one of the hidden gems that you have to explore in the Dhofar region.. This beautiful infinity pool kind of water stream/pool is located in Kharfat, between Salalah and Dhalqut..
The starting point of the hike is available in google maps (coordinates given below) and can be reachable with all type of cars. There is a small parking area available at the trailhead nearby the road. Please park properly and make sure not to block the way.
Basically the hike is an easy walk through the Dhofar forest, but the climate can make it a bit challenging like if there is fog / rain the visibility will be poor and also the trail will be wet so you will have to take it slow and careful.. The way is pretty much clear, but still worth to follow a wikiloc trail..
The amount of water in the pool is subject to the season and availability of rain.. Normally the pool is always having water throughout the year but it becomes full and overflowing only during the Khareef season (July-August-September).. As always, you should visit Salalah and the Dhofar region during the mid/late Khareef season to enjoy its best.. I don't recommend jumping in the pool if you are not visiting in the season / if the water is stagnant..
It is all the way going down (descend) from the starting point until you reach the pool and then coming back through the same way which is the ascend part of the hike.. So you will get some sweat again regardless you had a swim / bath in the pool..
Make sure to carry enough water, snacks etc. if you you planning to spend more time at the pool area.. And most importantly take the trash with you regardless it is biodegradable or not.. whatever you carry, just bring it back along with you..
Points to note:
- Mobile network is not available throughout the trail
- The pool is deep enough, and getting into it - is under your own risk! Do not try to swim if you are alone / confident enough
- Hike starting point is accessible with sedan cars
- Trail is through the forest areas, please be prepared
- Keep enough water / snacks if you are spending more time at the pool
- NO LITTERING PLEASE
