Itinerary description

A hidden gem- beautiful easy to lightly moderate hike with colorfulful rocks and cairn sculptures.
Easy to follow from the start to the end-well laid path.
It is less popular than other easy trails around the UAE because the access is not the most convenient. Sedan cars can reach the starting point with careful driving (you can park as close as 50meters before the hike, we parked 150 meter before starting point).
The road towards Jebel Jibir is broken with only one lane left at parts. Should be fixed.. Its such a beautiful road. Just be careful driving-its winding. You will drive around 3km on turmac road (quite steep and winding during the first kilometer) until the start of the hike. Follow google maps by typing Ain Alsheria, it will lead you to the start of the hike.

Access is very sketchy at the moment with the rain fall having damaged the tarmac road that leads to jebel Ybir and the dirt road that leads down the valley. Sedan cars can venture at their own risk but on my visit this morning the access road was washed off super badly. You will probably bottom out and give your suspension a sweat. The trail start is fairly straight forward but please don't be the person that drops their masks on the trail, litters and leave their stuff behind.

On the trail front you'll start nice and easy following a Wadi but as you progress you'll have to get up quite steep climbs. All well worth the climb however. Word of notice however - it can get very windy up at the top which can be treacherous when climbing so check the weather.

The views alone should convince you to do it.

Edeedman, I have done this trail end of December and it was okay to drive the sedan to the starting point. Had to drive slowly but it was totally fine. Which part of the road was washed very badly and is it still accessible by sedan? I wasn't aware there were rains recently in that area?

Thats sad to hear, is it still passable by sedan or not anymore?

Is it doable with kids ? Is the road still blocked?

Hi Sameer, it is doable with kids (depends on what age they are?).
I am not sure about the road being blocked if that is true or not. I went there in December and it was okay with sedan, it is not a perfect road but if the sedan could pass, 4x4 definitely will pass.
Also, there were no rains, so I doubt it is blocked.
Also, other people on wikiloc are commenting that they went there in the last couple of weeks, nobody mentioned anything about the road being not passable. Also, they said they went with the kids.
I would suggest to give it a go, especially if you have 4x4.
Also, a person in this chat dropped a pin where he said the road was crumbled, 25°36'26.3"N 56°08'11.9"E.

We did this hike today, by far the most beautiful and colourful hike we have done in entire UAE!!!! I think it should be considered UNESCO patrimony!! We read all these comments and we adventured ourselves in 2 sedan cars, we managed to park with 1km before the trailhead, but honestly we would not do it again, we had adrenaline pumping needed for the entire hiking season due to the steepness of the off-road section!

The Trail is really Scenic with Rock formations / Mountains coats of various designs and colours.
I plan to hike again at Leisure to explore the place and learn more.

Fantastic trail! You can reach it and park the car right at the beginning (or end). The road is washed out but it's ok, we saw two girls with small sedan car made it too although I would recommend a car with a higher clearance. We did it in 3 hours with a few snack and lunch stops. But recommend it to take slowly and enjoy the views. It's a real nice loop.

Hi is the trail easy to follow without a guide?

  • Photo of Ausra Osi
    Ausra Osi Oct 6, 2021

Hi Camille, yes it is pretty easy, there are cairns dotted along all the trail. The trickier part is to get to the start, as you need to pass some bumpy roads and village. Advisable to go by 4x4 but we made it with sedan safely.

What a gorgeous trail! Went in Jan 2022 after the rains, there’s gorgeous rock colors, entire mountain sides in purple, burgundy, and green. There’s was plenty of greenery and grass on the mountainsides.

We did do though the trail in reverse though and it was a lot prettier and easier to ascend / descend.

Hi Ranwa, thank you for your review. It is indeed one of the most beautiful trails in the area. Looking forward to come back there again
