YEARS AGO: In 1953, Hillary and Norgay set foot on the summit of Everest for the first time.
Morning photo from the Lobuche Lodge, on a day that continues a very cold night. Now the thermometer shows -8ºC, like yesterday evening. I've improved in 'body', I'm now at 81% and with normal pulses of 72. I've slept well and haven't lost my appetite, so up.
We leave Lobuche soon. But the day that I remembered was not too complicated, in the end it will turn out to be a very different reality, because the hail and the constant ups and downs (and also the altitude, of course) have been a leg-breaker for me. A couple of colleagues have been resting in Lobuche, I think with good judgement. You know, in any group that is formed there are always those who find things easier and others who do not.
I take a picture of my friend Rafa, now that he is no longer asleep. The bearers have already left in the direction of Gorakshep.
