Itinerary description
Follow the red-marked trail from Agios Ioannis descenting into the the beach, while enjoying the amazing view.
You will reach a sign (2h) pointing left for Loutro, or right for Agia Roumeli.
Take the right path to reach (30min) the famous Agios Pavlos church, built on the 10th Century. There is a taverna there to grab a bite or a beer, open till mid October typically (weather dependant), or maybe a swim in the sew if you feel like it.
From Agios Pavlos, you can continue to Agia Roumeli (45min) if you are tired and just get a boat out to Sfakia, Sougia or Paleochora (season dependant).
We did not go to Agia Roumeli. We turned back, and continued through the clear E4 path to Loutro (4h). This path passes through Marmara beach, where another Taverna is located if you want a break.
There are no real difficulties in the trail, but it's a long route needing ~6h net walking time which might mean 8h+ depending on swimming/taverna breaks.
Enjoy!
