Turn right
From here you join the marked trail from Agios Vlasios to Agios Lavrentios
Approach to river crossing (stepping stones)
Extra care needed in winter or after heavy rain.
Path joins earth road towards asphalt
If you walk back along this route make sure you see this entrance of the path into the forest.
Turn left and follow this stone path into the village
The marked route follows the asphalt uphill. It is much better to take the stone path through to the village centre
The walk turns left and descend to the village square
A short detour takes you to the monastery of Agios Lavrentios (follow the signs)
Looking back at the path that descends to the village square
You will take this path on your return!
An excellent cafe for some refreshment.
The only place open when we passed through, it was excellent. Here the path leaves the village square for the path to Drakia. This point is 4km from our start point and takes one hour. You may wish to return from here if you want a shorter walk back to the start point.
A great view across to Drakia
Here the path turns right and follows an earth road towards Drakia. Continue on the main earth road and ignore small turns to the left or right.
Turn left, path joins asphalt road
If you return on this route the waymarker sign is invisible so remember this turn off the asphalt back towards Ag Lavrentios.
Memorial to the massacre of villagers in December 1943
Here we finished the walk. Now you can explore the village find refreshments and perhaps like us walk back to the start on the same route. It is worth it! Great views on the return path.
