Itinerary description
This walk starts at the car park for Aphrodite’s Baths and then follows the first section of the Adonis Trail up to a high lookout point.
This involves some steep climbs but the views mean your efforts will be rewarded!
From there, you drop down to the lighthouse at the end of the Akamas Peninsula before backtracking a little and descending again to Fontana Amarosa and heading to the cave and shrine at the end of the headland.
From there, it’s a straight, mostly flat walk back to your starting point.
The first half of this route is pretty hilly, and the trail is often quite rough. Good footwear is essential. It can also be muddy after any storms. However, it’s quite straightforward to follow.
This trail takes you out into the wilds of the Akamas so there is no food or water available on the route. There is a shop at the start/finish that sells great ice cream!
There are a few good places to stop for a rest, including the lookout, lighthouse, and caves, which divide the walk roughly into thirds.
There is shelter at the lighthouse and cave but, other than that, you’re quite exposed so make sure you dress appropriately.
All in all, a great walk that takes in many of the highlights of this side of the Akamas.
