Third day of self-sufficiency route along the Great Walk of Abel Tasman.
We leave from the Bark Bay camp and arrive at the Awaroa camp.
The landscape and type of route are very similar to those of the first days.
This route can be shortened by a couple of kilometers if the low tides coincide and you can cross one of the estuaries directly, instead of having to skirt the coastal perimeter.
In the Awaroa camp there is also a Ranger who controls the correct reservation and the payment made.
The route is simple, but it requires three days of walking and carrying equipment.
Again recommend bringing a good insect repellent. The Awaroa camp is inside an estuary. It does not receive direct wind from the sea, so there is a notable abundance of insects.
Like other camps, it has neither electricity nor drinking water.
The landscape is really worth it. The feeling of isolation is absolute.
