Abel Tasman National Park Great Walk

Magnificent trek to discover Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand's 'Roundabout' compared by many to the 'Caribbean of NZ' due to its turquoise paradisiacal beaches. And the truth is.
This is a 60km linear route recommended for 3 to 5 days, but we shortened it to just under 50km due to the logistics and planning of our trip, returning to the starting point by water taxi.
Watch the tide schedule, we misinterpreted it and our initial idea was to get to Totaraniu and return by water taxi, but due to the tides we had to return from Awaroa beach (the people of the company from wáter taxi we were told very well)

Day 1: Marahau (Abel Tasman NP car park) - Torrent Bay Village (campsite)
20.5km; 5 hours on the move (7.5 hours total); + 470 / -450

We arrive in the morning at the PN car park and first of all we are going to book the taxi taxi for the return day, which as I explained before, we must take into account the tide schedule (we can check it online and if not, the companies from wáter taxi they explain it right there, but it's worth planning in advance but not being in last minute scares)
After booking the water taxi we start the route. It is an easy dirt road bordering the cliffs of the coast. We stop more than once on a beach to take a bath and eat our sandwiches. The path goes up and down, we continue to climb and we see in the background the Anchorage valley, the views are very beautiful. Before reaching today's final destination we turn off to see the 'Cleopatras pool', where the river makes some very beautiful shades of green and turquoise. In the afternoon we arrive at Torrent Bay, where we settle in a corner and set up shop. We think we are lucky as there is only one other store and us. We take advantage of the radiant day to bathe, the water is very clean (a little cold!) We see crabs that mimic the algae and many semi-buried clams in the sandy bottom of this natural beach.
A fantastic day!
At night we hold out so we don’t fall asleep and take pictures of the stars, what a night! Worth it if you have a cloudless day.
Day 2: Torrent Bay Village (campsite) - Awaroa Campsite
22.5km; 5:45 in motion (9.5h total) + 630 / -610

We had a leisurely breakfast, folded a tent, packed up and continued our march today. Today we also woke up to a nice sunny day. So let's take advantage and continue walking along the path of Abel Tasman.
We will stop at Bark Bay for a rest and manage the cool beach there is. Later, in Tonga, we see a group of children snorkeling, and we decide to stop and ask. One of the monitors tells us that just this place is the best in the area so well decided! let’s get things done and take a dip! It is very cool, there are very large mollusks, fish and pentagonal starfish and many with legs, among others. We get up and continue walking. We pass by the beautiful beach of Onetahui bay too And here we go up a bit inland to go to Awaroa beach (it is in front of a lodge and private restaurants, not the Doc). This is a really beautiful beach and amazingly right in front of it, on the water, there is a sea lion! It's the first thing we see, what a pass. He delights us by shaking his head and coming out of the water to lie down on the beach 😊. Although a little far away, we take pictures of him and decide to stay a while longer, we take another swim on this fantastic beach. From here to Awarora Camp where we will spend the night it takes 1 hour as the tide has risen, but nothing happens, it was worth it to enjoy without haste. Of course, we will have to cross areas that have already been flooded and take off our boots a couple of times and go barefoot on the rocks (nothing happens, but we must be careful not to get hurt). Finally we arrive at Awaroa campsite, where unlike the previous day, we meet a lot of people, but nothing happens, we look for 1 place (of the few that remain) to put tent and rest.
Fantastic day discovering many natural beaches and taking the opportunity to take lots of photos!

Day 3: Awaroa Campsite - Awaroa beach (water taxi)
7km; 1h30 in moviemnt + 240 / -240
Day back, we have to go look for the taxi water in Awaroa beach. We know that now in the morning there is a high tide, so it will be impossible for us to go along the coastal path (which the day before, it was a bit complicated) so we get up early and go inland by the mountain, easy path that takes 1h30 without breaks.
Once in Awaroa Beach, we took the water Taxi, and thoroughly enjoyed the return trip. The 'driver' stops in Tonga Island to show us the seal colony, and also tells us stories and natural curiosities of the area. Past Tonga Isla swimming there we see a penguin! The first thing we see, very small and swimming on the surface and then diving her, how beautiful! It looks like it’s hard to see them in broad daylight, what luck!
And we arrive at the beach where we will be picked up by a kind of tractor (where they put the boat on top, they have it very well assembled!) And to their shop. From there we will look for the camper and continue the adventures in New Zealand !!

Whoever wants to do this route, must keep in mind that it is necessary to book the refuge or camp site (we booked 2 camp sites) in advance through the website provided by the government, here is the link:
https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/nelson-tasman/places/abel-tasman-national-park/things-to-do/tracks/abel-tasman- coast-track /
You will have to bring the store and food as there are no places to buy it. But if you do good logistics, there is no problem and the truth is that it is wonderful to be able to enjoy this nature in this peculiar National Park full of life and beautiful landscapes.
