Stage 92

⇐ Link to the previous stage: 91 - APPALACHIAN TRAIL - PENNSYLVANIA -Section 12 and 11.2. From Ironmaster´s Mansion / Pine Grove Furnace to Alec Kennedy Shelter
⇒ Link to the next stage: 93 - APPALACHIAN TRAIL - PENNSYLVANIA. Sections 10.1 and 9. From Route 11 to Duncannon - Clarks Ferry Bridge - Susquehanna River

Tour of sections 11.1 and 10.2 of the Appalachian Trail , passing through the state of Pennsylvania (United States), from south to north. From mile AT 1117.40, where Alec Kennedy Shelter is located, to the miracle AT 1129.30 where the trail crosses US 11, in Carliste, PA.

In the first part of the march, a short distance from Alec Kennedy Shelter, and still on the crest of the Rocky Ridge, is the primitive center point of the Appalachian Trail, known as Center Point Knob, on which a plaque is installed identifying the place.

From that point, the trail descends to the Cumberland Valley, a fertile valley, full of farmland and farms, which is presented as a great plain that will accompany us for the next 24 or 25 km.

From this point on, the trail crosses farmland and private farms, whose intensive agricultural and livestock use, with the corresponding use of fertilizers and fertilizers, discourage the consumption of water taken from the small streams in the area, even using filters. or sewage tablets, so it is convenient to have a good supply of water on this route.

It highlights the passage of the trail through the beautiful town of Boiling Springs, where there is an information center of the AT, home of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy's Mid-Atlantic Regional Field Office, located on the edge of Children´s Lake, with shop of varied items, plans, and support to all walkers.

Boiling Springs has good services: banks, ATMs, restaurants, small food shops and other supplies, and an open cafeteria, which deserves a short stop.
