Le Vern est une rivière affluent de l'Isle qui parcourt 40 km sur le département de la Dordogne. Elle passe au pied du château de Grignols.

Note historique
Taillefer, seigneur de Grignols, est promu comte de Périgord au IXième siècle. A partir du XIième, la famille prend le nom de Talleyrand. Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand, personnage opportuniste servant sans scrupules la Révolution, l'Empire et la Restauration, en est le membre le plus célèbre.

Geographical notes
The Vern is a tributary of the Isle which runs 40 km in the Dordogne department. It passes at the foot of the Château de Grignols.

Historical notes
Taillefer, Lord of Grignols, was promoted to Count of Périgord in the 9th century. From the 11th century, the family takes the name of Talleyrand. Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand, an opportunist character serving the Revolution, the Empire and the Restoration without scruples, is its most famous member.
