Travel along the Appalachian Trail, as it passes through the state of Virginia (United States), from south to north, from the Seeley-Woodworth Shelter, to the trail's crossing with the Tye River, along to VA-56, also known as the Crabtree Falls Highway.
The stage corresponds to the layout of sections 18.1 and 17, according to the official distribution of sections of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia, and runs entirely inside the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest, crossing the protected natural space of the Priest Wilderness Area.
