Itinerary description

5 day hike in wicklow mountains. camping in the wild so bring water for 2 days. Some parts of the hike are off-trail, but most of it follows well walked-in paths.
Water can be found at start in glendalough tourist center, morning of second day in glenmalure from the waterfall (take water for 2 days here), end of third day back in glendalough, end of fourth day when at the foot of Scarr mountain the route follows the Wicklow Way (tap at a house) and at last there's a spring on the path on djouce mountain.
Glendalough is easy to reach by bus from Dublin. You can extend the hike a day (+/- 13 km i guess) and go over Knocknagun and Prince seat down to Enniskerry where you take public bus back to Dublin.
Be prepared for all kinds of weather :-) (definetly bring gaiters and waterproof hikingboots)
Great hike in the mountains, very few walkers along the way.

    Hi,
This seems like a great trip. I lived in the USA for almost 15 years and did quite a lot of camping and backpacking over there I am planning a trip for a few friends and only one or 2 have much experience. We were hoping to just do a night a time maybe are there any parts of this that would be suitable? Just hike out one day camp for the night and hike back? The first bit seems best, how long a hike is the first day? is the water far on the second morning? We were hoping to just do a few nights then do the whole lot in one at the end of the summer when we can get time off work.
    Thanks
    Kevin
