Nice route marked in red and white and signposted with travel times for the various destinations (Milna and beyond). Possibility of returning by boat to be agreed with the kiosk manager.

The picturesque bay near Hvar, reachable by boat from the port, or by a pleasant walk along the sea boulevard that leads from Pokonji Dol to Mekićevica. In the bay there are two pebble beaches, where, surrounded by the intoxicating scents of Mediterranean herbs, you can lie in the sun and swim in clear waters, listening to a sensual summer breeze and the light music of the waves. The beaches are in naturist parts and in the shade of the olive trees hides the nearby Robinson restaurant, with its pleasant environment, where you can try many delights and special Dalmatian dishes.

The island of Lèsina [4] [5] [6] [7] (in Croatian Hvar, in local Chakavian dialect Hvor or For, in ancient Greek Phàros, Φάρος, in Latin Pharia) is the longest of the Dalmatian islands , located in the Adriatic Sea between the islands of Brac, Vis and Korcula. The island has 11 077 residents [3], making it the fourth most populous of the Croatian islands.

Main centers are Lèsina (Hvar), Gelsa (Jelsa), Cittavecchia (Stari Grad), Verbosca (Vrboska) and San Giorgio (Sućuraj). From an administrative point of view, the island belongs to the Split-Dalmatian region.

Geography Edit

The island of Hvar is located in the Adriatic Sea, off the central Dalmatian coast
The island of Hvar is located off the central Dalmatian coast. To the north, on the other side of the Hvarski kanal is the island of Brac, to the south-west is Lissa, separated by the Vis channel (Viški kanal) and to the south Korčula separated by the channel of the same name (Korčulanski kanal ) and Torcola beyond the homonymous canal (Šćedrovski kanal); while to the south-east, beyond the Narenta channel (Neretljanski kanal), there is the Peljesac peninsula. The Spalmadori channel [8] (Pakleni kanal) finally, to the south-west, separates the island from the small Spalmadori archipelago. The eastern end of Hvar, Punta San Giorgio [9] (rt Sućuraj), is just 6 km from the mainland.

The island of Lesina is 68 km long from Capo Pellegrino [9] (rt Pelegrin) to Punta San Giorgio where there is a lighthouse [10] and only 10.5 km wide at its widest point. It occupies an area of 297.37 km² [1], which makes it the fourth largest island in the Adriatic by area, and has a coastline of 270 km [1]. The highest peak is Mount San Nicola (Sv. Nikola), 628 m [2], which is located north of the village of Santa Domenica [11] (Sv. Nedjelja), followed by Mount Om [12] (Hum) with its 603.8 m [2].

Its coasts are indented in a succession of small and medium inlets; the only large inlet on the island is the Bay of Stari Grad [13] (Starigradski zaljev) which opens towards the north-west and is closed to the north-east by the large peninsula Caval [14] (Kabal). Many mooring points are located in the numerous bays of the aforementioned peninsula, the largest being port Quieto [15] (luka Tiha), on its south side, inside the bay of Stari Grad. On the northern side of Lesina, as long and narrow as a fjord is the port of Verbosca [15] (luka Vrboska), bordered to the north by Punta Glavizza [16] (rt Glavica), adjacent to which there is Porto Gelsa [17] (luka Jelsa). The southwestern port of Hvar [17] (luka Hvar) faces the Spalmadori islands.
