My Blog:
Last day on Kangaroo Island, so before we catch the ferry in the late afternoon, we have a look around Kingscote coastline and come across this short walk up from what was the first official settler's settlement in South Australian in 1836.
Short Description:
Flagstaff Hill, with its artistic monument, celebrates the memory of the first four ships to arrive at South Australia's first official settlement at Reeves Point in 1836. Great views of the Reeves Point and Beatrice Inlet.
Getting There:
From Kingscote, head north up the hill on the Esplanade that then becomes Gov Wallen Drive. There is a car park on your left next to the Old Mulberry Tree.
Maps:
None found.
Route/Trail Notes:
Walk across the grassed area and up the slope to the monument.
Return by the same route, or this walk can be extended by continuing on beyond the Flagstaff to the Lighthouse, then turning left down the hill and left again back to your car park.
Permits/Costs:
None.
Other References/Comments:
None provided.
