Sur les terres de Villenave alternent forêts cultivées (pinèdes) et forêts naturelles (forêts galeries). On y trouve également une végétation rivulaire aux abords du Bez, affluent droit de la Midouze long de 32km.

La commune est une ancienne bastide.

Flore: fougère aigle, pin maritime, ajonc d'Europe, chêne pédonculé, houx commun, ronce commune, saules, sabline des montagnes, callune, alpiste faux-roseau, osmonde royale, fougère femelle, laîche paniculée, iris des marais, hélianthème faux-alysson.
Faune: bergeronnette grise, geai des chênes, merle noir, pigeon ramier
