It was the day of the first 5,000 of the itinerary (the viewpoint of Lake Tilicho is at 5,011m) and I was very excited to do my first 5,000 in the Himalayas. The previous day it had been quite bad, snowing for a good part of the afternoon and night, so when I got up at 05:30 to have breakfast I didn't really know what I was going to find.
At 5.50 it was already light enough to not need to walk with a headlamp, so I bundled up, checked on the GPS that the path was the correct one and I began to walk with very little weight, so I found myself strong and perfectly recovered from the days before.
The path was very hard, but there wasn't any ice, so I went up without problems (although some spikes would have come in handy, especially to ensure the top part of the subsequent descent) and doing the times that more or less foresee the local. The intermediate booth in 1h 30', I stopped for 15 minutes at the highest point to take photos, videos and panoramic views, I reached the Tilicho viewpoint in 2h 55', I was there for another 15' and I did the return in 1h 5'. In total, round trip and stops: 4h 20'.
The upper part of the itinerary was completely covered in snow, in many places it covered the boot. The itinerary is marked out with posts, so there was no problem in following it (in addition to the fact that the track I was on was exactly on the appropriate itinerary). The lake was still frozen and covered in snow, but in any case, being up there, in the pristine, white snow, without people around, was a magnificent experience and, fortunately, the day opened up enough to follow the itinerary without difficulties and to be able to enjoy extraordinary views.
On the way back, I stopped at the Base Camp to have a tea, settle expenses and continue, after the march with the spirit through the clouds after the magnificent morning that had just passed. I arrived very early in Shir Kharka, but the next point where I could stay was Yak Kharka, 4 hours away and it had already been 7 hours between some things and others, so I preferred to stay to take a shower and wash clothes ... what was missing!!!! (Much as other).
