Itinerary description
After breakfast, started on - by now infamous - Nepali Flat, yet gently climbing, trail! Beautiful mountains and Kumbu Glacier right by the side, partly covered in clouds in the slowly worsening weather. Decent visibility helped see the enormous base camp from quite a distance, a huge and busy group of tents housing some 2200 people (someone told us so). Base camp at last. Customery photo in front of the sign, which I believe does not show the right altitude (it is probably 50-100m lower than mentioned). All that buzz turned into a silent march back to Gorakshep, with tired legs, happy to be back in the lodge as the weather turned gloomier. Near constant buzzing of helicopters overhead, at least some of them carrying the sick didn't make it any better. A journey of a lifetime and an accomplishment nonetheless.
