Itinerary description

I made my way up the valley to the north of the Brinkley Bluff range. At one point there is usable water, but better water is available at Gita's Bath, although this requires a climbaround and a further short scramble.

The whole valley is filled with kangaroo grass, with very little spinifex.

I struggled to find a usable campsite, although I know that at least one sizeable group has camped here before. I ended up on a wallaby pad on a small saddle, which turned out to be very suitable.

I explored Surprise Gorge. I had to climb around a putrid pool, after which there was a series of attractive climbs up dry waterfalls. I reached Surprise Waterfall and tried to climb around it, but every time I overcame one obstacle I encountered another and had to climb even higher. This waterfall forces you right out of the valley in a way which is quite unexpected. I can see why it was so named.
