Itinerary description
I made my way down the west branch of the creek that feeds Hugh Gorge. There was water in several places. The most interesting rock feature, Inaccessible Canyon, is an attractive and twisting canyon which must be bypassed due to large drops. At its downstream end were eight cattle grazing, including a menacing bull (who, nevertheless, ran away as soon as I turned my back to retreat).
I explored a side-gorge which I call Pretty Tedious Gorge. It's pretty, with lots of water features, but it's also tedious because each of its features requires a separate climb-down from the flanking ridge.
I made my way through Macrozamia Amphitheatre and over the small saddle to the east branch of the creek that feeds Hugh Gorge, where there is enough level ground for over a hundred people to camp. Here I encountered dozens of people from St Philips College (which runs camps for students based at the downstream end of Fringe Lily Creek), so I made my way back over the saddle and camped at Macrozamia Amphitheatre.
