Itinerary description
Nos unimos a un evento organizado, "In the Footstep of the 82nd Airborne Division" (http://www.inthefootstepsofthe82ndairbornedivision.be/), en Gorona, en las Ardenas.
El 7 de enero de 1945 tuvo lugar una batalla entre las tropas del 508º Regimiento de Infantería Paracaidista de la 82ª División Aerotransportada Estadounidense contra las tropas alemanas para retomar la colina de Thier-Du-Mont. Las pérdidas humanas fueron cuantiosas en ambos lados, y los historiadores la consideran la batalla más sangrienta de las Ardenas.
Esta marcha histórica sigue los pasos del Regimiento de Infantería Paracaidista 508 desde Gorona y viceversa. Se sirvió sopa caliente en La Chapelle y vino caliente a la llegada. A los pies de Thier-du-Mont se llevó a cabo una ceremonia de colocación de flores.
Cada año más de 1.000 personas participan en este evento, entre ellos militares estadounidenses estacionados en Europa y varios veteranos que cruzan el océano para participar en esta misma conmemoración.

We joined an organized event, "In the Footstep of the 82nd Airborne Division" (http://www.inthefootstepsofthe82ndairbornedivision.be/), in Goronne on the Ardennes.
On January 7, 1945, a battle took place between troops of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd American Airborne Division against German troops to retake the hill of Thier-Du-Mont. The human losses were heavy on both sides, and it is regarded by historians as the bloodiest battle of the Bulge.
This historical march follows the steps of the 508 Parachute Infantry Regiment from Goronne and back. You can choose betwen a 20Km and a 17Km loop. Hot soup will be served at La Chapelle and hot wine at the arrival. At the foot of Thier-du-Mont a flower laying ceremony will be held in the afternoon.
Every year more than 1.000 people participate in the event, among them US military stationed in Europe and a number of veterans which cross the ocean to take part in this very commemoration.
