Itinerary description
This was a walk in four parts: up two thousand timber steps, then up a steep and rough track, then a gentle climb over often-snowy ground, then a ridge-scramble to Mt Ollivier (where Edmund Hilary started climbing). Then back again. We paused at a lookout to watch the avalanches on the face opposite.
