Warning: the slope is incorrectly registered. Check the map level caves for a more realistic view. It starts at 1,375m and ends at 2,450m, with the occasional descent and ascent. At least 1200m of cumulative height gain.
It is a walk in 3 stages, this is the first, to enjoy the jungle and the mossy forest, as well as the wildlife.
At the beginning you have magnificent views of Mount Kerinci, then you go into plantations, jungle and then the moss forest.
The main attraction is the part of the moss forest, where everything is covered with moss, soil, branches, trunk creating a very special atmosphere.
It would be like the typical spruce beech forest but on steroids. In addition there are many types of mosses, in shape and length.
Apart from moss there are many other types of plants and flowers such as orchids. The most striking is the carnivorous plants.
On the wildlife side, this is Sumatran tiger territory but it's hard to see. Regarding what we did see were Tapir remains and tracks, remains of wild pig activity and we also heard gibbons. We also saw in flight a bird of prey called Elang here.
The truth is that the walk was very hard for me mainly due to the thickness, despite the fact that the guide and porter were clearing the path, so you have to dodge and move plants all the time. At times the path disappeared and we had to create the path. There was also some other climbing.
My guide was Rapani, from Kerinci view home stay, who is by far the best guide I have had in Indonesia. His passion for adventure, kerinci and even flora and fauna are very remarkable.
This trek is just one stage of another multiday, here you have all of them:

Hola, muchas gracias por le detalle de la ruta. Yo estoy pensando en hacerlo este Octubre, comentas que lo hiciste con Rapani, lo recomiendas?
Si, es muy supermajo y sabe un montón de todo, quizá fue por que fui solo y tuvo mucho tiempo para mi. El mejor guía que tuve en todo Indonesia. Si lo haces, ya me dirás que tal.
Muchas gracias! He estado chateando con él y me ha gustado su propuesta. Ya te contaré.
