Itinerary description

A famous group of mountains outside the town of Alma, offering an opportunity to bag 3 or 4 14ers in one day.
This loop is officially rated as YDS Class 2, in my opinion due to two steep sections between trailhead and Mount Bross, and below Mount Democrat. Other than that, most of the trail was very manageable. It offered ever-changing sceneries that’s always exciting.
The trailhead was located in Pike National Forest that charged 5 dollar per day for parking. To my best knowledge American the Beautiful Pass should cover this fee. The trailhead was located 5.5 miles from the town of Alma through an unpaved road, the last mile of which was in pretty bad shape. But by going slowly and paying close attention to the road, we made it in a low-clearance sedan.
The summit of Mount Bross was private property and off hiker limits (as of Aug 2022).
This loop took us a total of 8 hours to complete, including all rests at the summits and a 45-minute delay as my party was addressing an incident during the descent from Mount Bross.
