Itinerary description
Another easy to moderate hike that can be trekked by newbies.
The trail started from Fatqa; it started as a dirt road - turned into cow path - going downhill snaking between oak trees. The trail then started an uphill slope on pavement going through fatqa again until we reached Kahloon restaurant/pub/park area. After Khaloon, the trail turned into a dirt road at the shoulder of many hills until we reached the hills overlooking Safra and its surrounding towns with an awesome views of the Mediterranean and the jagged Lebanese seashore. The trail kept going downhill until we reached the ruins of what seemed to be an old village (observation: all houses seemed to have the same design - an architecture that seemed to be designed by one person). After lunch at the ruins, the trail made an uphill turn where we walked on pavement for about 2 km and back to Kahloon then the town limits of Ghidras and back to Fatqa.
A beautiful hike that is suitable for all ages and hikers (beginners will love it). The views were that of forests, the Mediterranean, and sleepy villages that gives Lebanon its uniqueness and charm.
weather was a perfect winter/spring weather with beautiful clear sunny sky that gave the colors of nature a beautiful depth and richness.
Ranking it as moderate to avoid the beginners nasty remarks :)

Kahloon Pub and Restaurant
A nice setting of a park/restaurant named Kahloon after the Fairouz Play of Mays El Reem. Kahloon, in the musical, is the village of Fairouz's character grandmother. The place overlooks the Mediterranean; a small piece of earthly heaven.
