Itinerary description
We took a different route to usual, because we wanted to look for the old Giles Springs Yard, a remnant from the area's days as a cattle station. When we found it, we were surprised at how good a condition the fences were in.
Our camp in the middle of the Alice Valley was at a waterhole which can be unreliable even in a good season. We found enough, but it was a bit disgusting as it was heavily fouled with bird droppings. Fortunately, we had brought quite a bit of water from Giles Yard Spring campsite, so we only needed to use the waterhole for cooking water.
On a positive note, there were hundreds of birds everywhere - mostly budgerigars and zebra finches but also some bigger birds.
