Itinerary description

We started out along the Larapinta Trail, but left it at the first river crossing for a direct route, north of the range. One option is to stay in the river as long as possible, but we left the river to head across the plains.

On an impulse, we climbed Pointless Saddle, a saddle which doesn't lead to anywhere but just takes you down to the plains again. The view from the top was nice though.

As expected, there was no water on this route after we left Ormiston Gorge. There is, however, a water tank at the Rocky Bar Gap Larapinta Trail campsite.
