Itinerary description
A German friend wanted to hike the Chouf area; the choice fell on Barouk Valley River starting from the Church of the Lady, Mokhtara.
The trail, to my surprise, was in tiptop shape compared to previous visits. The Barouk Cedar Biosphere have done a fantastic job by cleaning and delineating the trail.
The trail took us from the river bank to the inside dirt roads of the surrounding villages under a hot sun at an average of 500 meters ASL. The river water was at its low due to few snowfall this year but this did not take away from the scenery it provides.
The best time to do this trail is end of March to mid April.
P.S> I am ranking it moderate due to the hot weather; easy otherwise.

Thank you for sharing this trail.
Can I depend on the app for the location all the way on the trail? Or will I get lost?
I use Suunto watch and Garmin GPS to follow trails. I don't trust smart phone GPS applications myself. But many people I know use them.
In all cases, I think you will be safe for this trail.
Happy Hiking

The gps tracks inside the canyon are very approximate, if not shifted 400m. Probably due to the rock walls blocking satellite view.
But the tracks are reliable enough to find the unique trail along the foot of the wall.
Rely on your GPS for rough guidance, open your eyes end follow the trail. You won't get lost.
Is it possible to do it at this time of the year?
it is doable 365 days a year; enjoy.
