Itinerary description
The trail started from the Flag Hill (The hill where the first current Lebanese flag was hoisted in 1945) and went uphill on a cow path passing by the Nestle water spring and a couple of cedar forests to reach the TV Channel 11 destroyed building (the building was destroyed by Israeli air force in early 1970s). The Channel 11 building has a 360-degree view of Lebanon where you can clearly sea the Mediterranean, Lamartine Vaslley, and the Bekka valley all the way up to Hermel. After the lunch break at Channel 11, we made our way towards the Tarsheesh town limit. The trail then mad a turn to Kfar Selwan and Falougha.
The trail has great views of the Bekaa valley, Kfar Selwan man-made ponds, Cedar and Pine forests, and the Dahr Al Baydar bridge.
the weather was sunny with temperatures in the low twenties and clear sky with dispersed white clouds.
Waypoints
War Tank posts
This area was under the control of the Syrian Army. This location has many holes dug to hide tanks.
TB Channel 11 Destroyed building
The building was a transmission station and offices for Tele Liban Channel 11. It was destroyed by Israeli forces in early 1970s. The strategic post of this place gives visitors a 360-degree bird's eye view of Lebanon.
Gold Digs
Many Lebanese believe there is lots of treasures hidden in the middle of nowhere. They look for unusual landmarks as a sign of unmarked treasure burial sights. We came across such a place that is freshly dug; I don't know if they found any!
Walnut Tree
A landmark on the trail. One of the largest walnut trees I have come across. There is a fresh water source here for hikers to refill their bottles.
