Penultimate day on the way.
Today we have to descend from the Kuispang camp to the Saicho camp. We start SW direction quite late, around 09:30, following the Gondogoro glacier with stunning views of the ice blocks, while crossing the shovel that leads to Masherbrum La. After this we turn south and the terrain changes. From stepping on ice and rocks we start stepping on vegetation! The drop in height is noticeable. During this section we find that the path narrows and in some steps we will have to be careful and even use our hands. In fact there are the odd parabolt equipping some of the most committed parts, perhaps to help in winter ascents. This must be one of the reasons why animals are not brought up to Kuispang.
We passed the Dalsampa camp (I do not remember seeing it, but it is reviewed) and we reached a wooded point, where we left behind the moraine of the glacier and more alpine terrain, until we reached the Saicho camp.
Here the porters relax, clean and shave, surely not to be scared of the return to civilization, and they set up their party to celebrate that everything has gone well.
Further down, in Skardu, our comrades fallen in battle get into a jeep that will take them to Kanday, through the Hushe Valley, where they will wait for our arrival the next day.
