20190812 | Paiju - Liligo - Khorburtse | Baltoro Trekking 2019 #3

We leave Paiju Camp heading east towards the visible moraine of the Baltoro glacier. Although from today we will walk several days on it, it does not give the impression of being walking on meters of ice, since it is all covered in rocks. On the other hand, in the lower part of the glacier, the environment is very moved, and we can see how the water flows underneath and the continuous falls towards its slopes and cracks.

Hamid, our guide, explains to us that during the 15 years he has been doing this route, he has not noticed that the glacier has shortened, but it has decreased in height. The roads change over the years.

After a break in Liligo, we returned to the route under the scorching sun. A companion is not well and we will be a few more hours meandering between mounds and avoiding cracks, but we arrived at Khorburtse, not without first having managed to see the Paiju Peak (it resisted), the Trango towers ... and the BROAD PEAK, the second 8000 of the trip. We have taken so long that we hardly have any free time, and we arrived shortly before dinner. The heat has taken its toll on us again, but this will be in the background after the experience of having already seen several of the great peaks of the Karakorum and some other glacier:
