WARNING:
This was just an attempt, I did not reach the icefall but the track is right up to (3600-3700m) where I found the last sign. Just after the lake I took the wrong direction, but you will notice easily what was wrong. I added this gpx for reference for other people, as I could not find any other and at least will help you to start the trail in the right direction and reach very high before you had to start exploring yourself or ask syak shepperds.
NOTICE:
THIS WAS ONLY A FAILED ATTEMPT, PLEASE COMPLEMENT THIS INFORMATION WITH OTHER SOURCES.
When not finding a gpx file, nor clear instructions, I had to guide myself with maps with low resolution, the marks (white blue) and road signs (insufficient in some places) and the opinion of other fellow walkers with whom I went up, I missed a Shortly after the lake and then at the end I did not find the waterfall, since I lost the signs and it was cloudy. IN ANY CASE I HAVE MARKED THE POINT WHERE I FOUND THE LAST SIGNAL (3600-3700m) AND IF YOU DROP THE PART AFTER THE LAKE, IF YOU FOLLOW THIS TRACK YOU WILL COME UP TO 3600-3700 WITH THE SECURITY THAT YOU WILL GO. THERE ARE YAK SHEPHERDS IN THAT AREA YOU MAY ASK.
POINT:
Khanti, although it usually starts closer: in Larjung or further south in Kokhekanti.
ITINERARY:
Back and forth.
From Khanti you have to go to Larjung and then follow the road until you cross the Kosi Khola river (or something like that) by a suspension bridge. You keep doing the horseshoe of the road and you get where to go to the lakes. Once in the first lake, you continue straight until you reach a river, you cross it and DO NOT CLIMB THE BARRANK LIKE ME, follow the track past the ravine. You will have a hard and steep climb through a forest, you will pass a ruined shed with a sign and then several shops (I suppose that of shepherds), then you will reach some meadows with yaks (about 3600-3700m) and I already explored there but I did not find .
DIFFICULTIES:
The orientation is complicated, because I did not find a reference gpx and it is difficult to identify from the lake where to go, then up to 3600-3700m, again it is difficult to orientate especially with fog.
The climb is very steep all the time and the road is not easy and the accumulated slope of more than 1500 meters. The guides would recommend doing it in two days, but there are no teahouses and you would have to camp.
WHY DO IT:
To see the Dhaulagiri icefalls (ice waterfalls) up close. On clear days they can be seen from below, but by far clear. On the way, height is taken and the Nilgiris and Annapurnas (even I think the Annapurna I) with the Kali Gandaki river are seen with a lot of perspective, I think that only for this reason it would be worth doing the route at least up to about 3300-3400m.
SERVICES:
At the beginning you have the villages of Khanti, Kobang, Larjung with hotels and restaurants, there are not so many services, but enough. Along the way, once there is nothing in the forest, you will have to bring water and food to spend the day.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS:
Start very soon, even before dawn, because the excursion is long. It took me about 6h to go up and 5h to go down, although I'm slow. Give room to lose yourself. Sometimes the sun rises clear and in the afternoon the clouds appear, so starting soon is important too.
Maybe two nights in the area to face the climb with a light backpack.
Walking sticks are recommended to help you in the steep ascent and descent.
