Itinerary description
This section would usually be done in two days, stopping overnight at Portals Gorge. Most of the walking is fairly level and open, but there is one awkward scramble. Most groups take the low-level sidle, but it has one very airy step which I avoided by climbing around on the south side.
There was good water at Milton Park Gorge, Portals Gorge and Canyon of Defiance.
Portals Gorge is known locally by the name Freezing Gorge.
