POINT:
Rowardennan ferry dock
HOW TO GET:
You can go by car to the parking lot at the official start of the route, without having to reach the pier.
I arrived from Arrochar by boat from Arrochar, service at 8:45, arriving at 9:30. The return to Arrochar is at 16:45 arriving at Arrochar at 17:30. It's worth 13Gbp round trip, 10gbp one way.
ITINERARY:
Round trip through the same place.
The road is very marked, most of it is made of stone.
WHY TO DO IT:
Due to the fog I could not enjoy views, but in theory it has very good views. It is one of the most popular trips from Glasgow, in April and with a horrible time I did not stop meeting people. The road is very easy to follow and does not have any technical point too.
TERMS:
Fog from 500m and intermittent snow, easily avoidable, from 800m. Wind of 40-50kph once gained a certain height. Temperature forecast was 3 degrees at the summit with a thermal sensation of -3. Without getting to rain, very humid environment, with the wind literally throwing moisture in your face.
MAIN DIFFICULTIES:
The time itself, the height gained and the stone path is sometimes hard for the knees.
ALTERNATIVES:
Start from the parking lot. Make the turn on the other side to make it circulate.
You can also do Ben Arthur / The Cobbler or Ben Vorlich, from Arrochar and Sloy power station respectively.
SERVICES:
At the beginning of the route: hostel, parking, free public baths, ferry that one with several Loch Lomond points.
