POINT:
The Bamford train station.
ARRIVAL POINT:
The town of Hope.
HOW TO GET:
The train from Manchester to Sheffiled for the Bamford. It costs 12.20 gbp when it is purchased round-trip in off-peak time (offpeak return).
During the walk, you will see some parking spaces later in the walk, which could be used by those who prefer the car.
HOW TO RETURN:
By train from Hope. The station is a little away from the end of the walk: about 11 minutes walking. Hope is on the same road as Bamford, so it really is the same train. Hope is closer than Bamford, so an off-peak return ticket to Bamford covers Hope.
If you have come by car you can take the train from Hope to Bamford and save the walk, but there are nice paths between the two towns.
WHY TO DO IT:
It is a walk that can be done perfectly in half a day, despite what it seems for what it cost us, we were very relaxed. There is not much climb (360m) and then the views from Win hill are very nice, especially Lady bower reservoir. Possibly one of the shortest tours that gives you views of Lady Bower from a train station.
NOTICE:
I have a broken cell phone, that's why the photos are terrible, but it's about giving an idea, not winning a contest.
MAIN DIFFICULTIES:
The initial climb is the most difficult, due to the inclination and the terrain itself, with lots of stone and mud, also when we got back we lost a bit and went down a slope of grass with a lot of inclination to shorten.
ITINERARY:
From Bamford to Edale. If it is done the other way around, I think it is more difficult, because there is too much inclination in the descent.
SERVICES:
In Bamford there is a pub, public services, bus stop and train station.
In Hope there is a station, bus stop and more pubs, restaurants, cafes and hotels.
ALTERNATIVES:
You can go back to Bamford either by going around Win hill by the shore of Lady bower or by the south slope.
Also to get similar views, but on a shorter way, you can go to Bamford Edge.
In the area of hope valley in general you also have classics such as Man tor, Kinder Scout and Stanedge edge, highly recommended. Also around Castleon there are some caves to visit.
